For 696’s annual group exhibition, Get Trucked, with the proceeds of all caps sold going to CanTeen.
This pretty much killed me because I left it til the very last minute (as per usual) because my mind drew a complete blank. I freaked out a little because drawing on a cap meant there was no UNDO BUTTON (?!!). I also had no idea what materials to use/buy, because I have nothing of use at home. In the end, I was suddenly inspired to draw goldfish. I don’t know why — but I really wanted to try something different & illustrative.
This. Took. Forever.
I got my idea at like, 3am, and didn’t finish until about ten hours later. I was using pens with tiny nibs (used my conveniently waterproof fineliners) & I couldn’t get overzealous lest they bled through the fabric. I also couldn’t make any mistakes.
So.. I haven’t slept. And I’m a bit delirious. But oh, do I have a sudden obsession with goldfish now. Such organic lines! And man, was this fun. I’m pretty pleased with the way it came out. :)

I must admit that the illustration on this cap is very elegant and well thought out. So well done Viet-My-Bui! Also, she’s right about goldfish, they are very beautiful creatures that a lot of artists like to illustrate. Hmmm maybe I’ll give them a go *steals idea to draw goldfish* hehe!
